First Nations and Europeans in New France and Early Canada: Fur Trade Simulation
September-June
Apps' Mill
Half Day
What was life like for the early French settlers who traded with the First Nation Peoples for furs? During this simulation game, students will travel back in time, more than 400 years ago and role-play “Coureurs de Bois” or “Runners of the Woods”. Students will navigate the wilderness to locate trap lines and trading posts. Knowledge of local fur-bearing mammals and bartering skills will improve student success in gathering enough provisions for the coming winter.
$200 (+HST) per half day
